Unique gravity-powered Water Tower launched

SSP Hippo has launched a unique Water Tower that promises to bring the fun and excitement of the latest splash-parks to even the most inaccessible dead spaces within parks, attractions and public spaces. No heavy plant is required for installation and the only services required are a standard 240v, 13 Amp supply, connection to a mains water supply and sewer, and a concrete base that could be an old paddling pool. The plant room is ingeniously incorporated into the tower itself so no expensive ground-works or separate treatment plant are required.
Gravity alone provides the power to force water from the main tank out through up to 4 support arms, each capable of holding 3 further interactive arms supporting 20 water features and up to 4 in-ground water jets. The result; over 100m2 of water-active area activated via a unique controller system providing several different programmes which maintain anticipation, surprise and excitement.

Create your own Totem Pole
Totem poles and tree carved features have always provided an attractive and natural option for visually enhancing any area. Now you can create your own design and a hand carved wooden masterpiece, finished in natural stain or painted designs could complement your play area or park.
Available in bespoke designs and a range of sizes, the totems are fully customisable. Whether you require a small scale animal design for a nursery garden or perhaps a full scale medieval totem for an outdoor play castle SSP can create totems and designs to match your specification and help create the perfect themed environment.

CHAS Accreditation
SSP WaterPlay has recently applied for and achieved CHAS accreditation. CHAS stands for Contractors Health And Safety Assessment Scheme and has been developed over the years by local authority health and safety and procurement professionals, with the support of the Health and Safety Executive. SSP Hippo is born
SSP Hippo, a new joint venture between SSP WaterPlay and Hippo Leisure Products, has developed ‘Plug In & Play’ to offer value for money educational water play for nurseries and primary schools. Designed for children from 3 upwards, the modular, multi-functional system can house up to four different interactive water features per table. Features include triple tipping buckets, funnel squirts and water wheels. The tables are connected together via interactive gullies which come complete with dam paddles and valve stops, challenging the user to move the water from one table to another.
The unique modular, interchangeable design allows you to purchase as little as a single tank and then add both features and extra tanks as required. Constructed from a combination of robust GRP with hand polished stainless steel, each table is preassembled and easy to install. The Plug In features can be removed for easy storage and each unit is year-round weatherproof.
New Product: Steppers™
Steppers™ are a new way of activating flush-mounted in-ground units. They consist of interactive nozzles that are activated when a child stands on them; either to turn the flow on or off. They can be used individually or on common manifolds for greater interaction. These durable units are manufactured of machined cast bronze with precision machined Delrin® movable nozzles and are available in standard Water Odyssey™ colours.
Play Manifolds are designed to provide a creative interactive water play environment using Steppers™ nozzles with other in-ground play components. Working together, kids can divert water to the larger spray effect by standing on the Steppers™ nozzles to divert their flow. Fun wet play that also promotes team work and cooperation. The assembly includes the manifold, nozzles, and levelling bolts.
The Steppers™ nozzles can be set out in a variety of configurations and with different flush-mount water features such as the Aqua Arch™, Daddy Long Legs™, Jet Way™, Baby Long Legs™ or Water Weave™.

New Offices Completed
SSP WaterPlay has now moved into its new, purpose built offices at Darwins Farm, Odiham, Hampshire. As Greg Seale, MD of SSP WaterPlay commented; “This has been a long process but it has been worth the effort. We’ve now got the space to expand the business and a beautiful environment in which to work”. The offices provide ample accommodation inside, plenty of parking and a 6 acre paddock as well.
New from SSP: Aquatrol
Aquatrol is a powerful agent that stops bacterial growth by disrupting the reproductive cycle of spores which develop into algal growth. It is a very safe, non-toxic alternative to sodium hypochlorite and other harsh chemicals. It is used where a duty of care to public health exists, where there is a risk of injury from slippery surfaces caused by biofilm, where a high level of sanitation is needed and where the surface suffers erosion from harsh cleaning chemicals
As Aquatrol is non-toxic, it is free from COSHH regulations and, because it removes both black and clear slime, it can help to reduce personal injury claims. The product is both easy to apply, cost effective and it eliminates the need for major cleaning. In other words, Aquatrol is ideal for maintaining safety and water purity in and around water playgrounds.
Pirate Ship and Beach Hut
Now available through SSP Waterplay; a pretty impressive pirate ship that’s armed to the teeth with water cannons and a Beach hut that’s perfect for ambushes; constructed from a unique, safe and practically indestructible soft-to-touch material. These create an irresistible (if you’re a kid) addition to themed water play areas, pool-sides and splashparks. (Click here to see images)

SSP WaterPlay become ‘Heroes’ in Roundabout ‘Pumps
for Africa’ European launch…..
SSP has partnered with Crealy Adventure Parks (www.crealy.co.uk)
to help create the first visitor attraction feature that will generate
clean fresh water for children and families in Africa & Asia. Featuring
SSP’s unique ‘Plug In & Play’ system at the first
two attractions in Crealy (Devon) and Crealy (Cornwall), the project
(www.playpumps.org) aims to replicate
itself in other top visitor attractions around the globe, attracting
sponsorship and donations to create real ‘Roundabout Pumps’ in
villages across the developing world. Patron Nelson Mandela has endorsed
the whole campaign, which launches on April 2nd at Crealy (Devon).
Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG)
Guidelines
PWTAG, the Pool Water Treatment Advisory
Group have released new guidelines for the running and treatment of water
used in interactive water parks. As the number of water playgrounds grows
rapidly, the guidelines are designed to provide a point of reference
for both installers and operators. A full copy of the guidelines can
be seen at the PWTAG website - http://www.pwtag.org/home.html
Teenage Water Activity
Recognising the desire to attract and entertain older children in an
interactive water park setting, SSP will be introducing new products
and layouts to meet that need. Roosevelt Tower and Flick
Park are just two new concept designs that are designed to appeal
to older children.
Roosevelt Tower
Given the opportunity to ‘soak’ their
peers from up high with the latest gravity foaming jets will
always be a winner, bringing both height and competition into
a water park. Roosevelt Tower can be supplied with a variety
of bespoke features including Rain Curtains and Dump Jets. |

Flick Park
This is a deck-level target game, where energy and skill are
combined in a race to score against free-standing targets, firing
from Gravity Shooters. The trick is to beat your opponent’s
score, otherwise you run the risk of being ‘dumped’ on
by an imposing Step’N’Woosh’ that sits waiting
for the gamer to slip up, resulting in a deluge of cold water
for the loser! Two or Four game options available.
